A Policeman's Lot

Some time in 1827, a Thomas George Gisby was born to George and Elizabeth (nee Twyman) in Margate, Kent. After 1841 (according to Census returns) he left home and was next heard of when he married a Louisa Bishop on 21 January 1850 at St. Philips Church, Bethnal Green, London.

Thomas and Louisa had a number of sons and daughters, and we have information on the marriages and off-spring of a few of them.

The next time we caught up with Thomas and Louisa was in the 1881 and 1901 Census returns. In 1881 , they were living at 5 Rose Alley, Bishopsgate and Thomas was a Station Sergeant. By 1901 he had retired and they were living in Shoreditch. Thomas died that same year, and Louisa died in 1902.

We would like to continue our enquiries with regard to them and their family, with the hope of tracing lines up to the present day. This is definitely not a closed case! All information received will be treated in the strictest confidence.
